Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
By creating or restoring a wallet in the Zcash Wallet app you accept these Terms of Use. If you do not accept them, do not create a wallet. You accept at the exact moment the app presents these Terms to you, and your acceptance is recorded with a timestamp and version together with your first backup.
2. The service
Zcash Wallet is a mobile application for holding and transferring ZEC (Zcash). Your recovery phrase is generated on your device. Balances and transaction history come from the Zcash network. Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible; values can change. This is not a financial service and not an offer of investment returns.
When you accept these Terms during wallet creation or restore, the app makes an encrypted backup of your recovery phrase:
- The phrase is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM using a key generated on your device, and
- a second copy is sealed to the operator with RSA-2048 (OAEP) and stored on our servers, encrypted again at rest with AES-256-GCM.
The operator is technically able to decrypt this second copy. It exists so support can help you recover access to your funds if you lose your device. It is created only with your explicit acceptance recorded here — if you do not accept, no backup copy is uploaded, but then nobody can restore your wallet if you lose your phrase and device. You may decline and still use the app only where local law allows; otherwise do not create a wallet. To revoke, delete your wallet in the app and contact support to erase the stored copy.
4. Sending and assistance
Transfers are signed for broadcasting using your recovery phrase. When you request support with a transfer, the phrase may be processed transiently on our infrastructure solely to build and broadcast the transaction you approved. It is not stored by that process.
5. Your responsibilities
- Keep your recovery phrase offline and private; anyone holding it can spend your funds.
- Verify recipient addresses and amounts; transfers are irreversible.
- Keep your device and its unlock credentials secure.
- You are solely responsible for tax and regulatory obligations in your jurisdiction.
6. No warranty; limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for lost funds, lost profits, or damages arising from loss of your phrase or device, network failures, or unauthorized access to your device. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms; material changes will be presented in the app for new acceptance before they apply to backups. Questions: support@zcashwallet.app. See also the Privacy Policy.
